Technical Support Engineer – Grand Rapids, Michigan

DISHER is currently partnering with a global, material handling and logistic solutions company in Grand Rapids, Michigan to fill their Technical Support Engineer role on the team. In this role, you will play a critical role in providing highly technical customer service and support, focusing on providing software solutions. You will need to have strong customer service and communication skills along with a comprehensive technical knowledge.

What you will get to do:
  • Take remote support calls and take ownership in resolving issues related to solutions including mechanical, software, and control solutions for customers.
  • Troubleshoot customer system errors, using judgment to authorize and secure assistance, and follow through with customer until issue is resolved.
  • Follow-up with root cause evaluation and resolution after initial issues are corrected.
  • Utilize the call tracking system to record customer calls, provide regular updates, and record the final resolution.
  • Use various software systems to diagnose and resolve customer system malfunctions or perform system maintenance.
  • Maintain organized documentation and work methods for remote support activities.
  • Participate in on-site customer transitioning process to learn the customer system and environment.
  • Coverage varies between days, nights, and weekend as planned, well in advance within the team.
What will make you successful:
  • Associates degree plus Software experience, or Bachelor’s degree in a computer related discipline or similar.
  • Knowledge of Object oriented programming.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Well versed in C# or Java.
  • Good understanding of network infrastructure familiarity with TCP/IP, sub-netting, switching, and routing, Ethernet concepts.
  • Strong relationship building skills with high customer focus.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
