DISHER is currently searching for an Automation Intern for the summer of 2019!

This internship will provide a college-level student with practical and professional experience that will enhance and complement their classroom learning.  In addition to being involved in Automation Team meetings, this problem-solver will have the opportunity to work on all types of automation, manufacturing, and controls systems projects in a variety of industries with our area customers in Michigan.  The internship will begin in the summer of 2019 and last approximately 3 months.

What you will get to do:
As a part of the team, you will contribute with the following day-to-day work.
  • Support projects on the Automation Team, Electronics Team, and Manufacturing Tech Solutions Team.
  • On automation projects, spend most of time on the floor to troubleshoot and correct issues and improve processes.
  • Troubleshoot and support production equipment using many common systems (PLC, CNC, Robotics), or other control platforms.
  • Defend your team against a Nerf Gun infiltration by another DISHER Team.
  • Work with many different aspects of controls, from system definition to design and programming.
  • Integrate hardware and software solutions for manufacturing with support from the Electronics team.
  • Coffee consumption for your own rejuvenation.
  • Help to develop Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) solutions with support from the Electronics team.
  • Work on multiple projects/programs at one time.


What will make you successful:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, with mechanical aptitude/experience | Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with automation training/experience | Similar degree and experience.
  • Student should be hands-on with extensive lab experience.
  • Experience with Automation through internship experience, lab experience, robotics programs, or other.
  • Dreaming about the future of the Automation Engineering industry.
  • Previous engineering internship experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Candidate must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States of America for any employer without restrictions or expirations.
