We are looking for a self-starter with excellent project management skills to join the DISHER Team as an Automation Engineer.  This problem solver will have the opportunity to work on a variety of types of projects, automation systems, industries with our area customers in Zeeland, Michigan.  If this sounds like you, we would like to start a conversation:

Responsibilities:
As a part of the team, you will contribute with the following day-to-day work.  These responsibilities will call on you to foster and nurture relationships with customers.
 
  • Troubleshoot and support production equipment using Programmable Multi Axis Controllers (PMAC), or other control platforms.
  • Layout and use of current networks, such as DeviceNet, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP.
  • Work with many different aspects of controls, from system design to programming.
  • Work in a variety of roles based on customer needs, such as Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Manage multiple projects/programs at one time.
  • Capital equipment procurement.
  • 'On-the-floor' troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • Coffee consumption for your own rejuvenation.
  • Manage your customer accounts and relationships.
  • Coach and develop engineering teammates as needed.
  • Manage personal work schedule.
  • Defend your team against a Nerf Gun infiltration by another Disher Team.
  • Continuous improvement projects with your team.
 
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with mechanical aptitude/experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with automation training/experience; or similar.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Automation Engineering.
  • Ability to travel 10-30% of the time to customer sites.
  • A working knowledge of various types of automation hardware.
  • Allen Bradley RSLogix 5, 500 and 5000, or similar, experience.
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI) programming experience.
  • Experience with database applications, such as SQL Database.
  • Candidate must be currently legally authorized to work in the United States of America for any employer without restrictions or expirations.

  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • A team-based and creative approach to problem solving.
 
Rockstar Candidate
  • Familiarity with FANUC, ABB, and/or Motoman robots.
  • Collaborative robot experience.
  • Pneumatics or hydraulic experience.
  • Familiarity in data aggregation.
  • Dreaming about the future of the Automation Engineering industry.
