CNC Lathe Machinist - 

We are currently partnering with a precision machining company with cutting-edge lean manufacturing processes in Grand Rapids, MI in their search for a highly experienced CNC Lathe Machinist.  

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for complete program set-ups, operation of CNC lathes and mills, and maintaining production quotas and quality levels. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Responsible for developing tooling needs, programs and work plans for new products and improving processes for existing products on CNC machines. 
  • Set machines to new or existing layouts or instructions in conformance to blueprints, control plans, and submit ISIR to lead person or supervisor for approval.
  • Determine and record face off, cut off and cycle times and report any discrepancies.
  • Managing one's time and the time of others especially with regard to training and production planning. 
  • Determine sequence of machine operations, and select the proper cutting tools needed to machine work pieces into desired shapes.
  • Set up cutting speeds, depths, feed rates, and position tools in relation to work pieces. 
  • Develop layouts for new jobs and improve them for existing jobs.
  • Perform minor machine repairs.  

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 3 years of CNC Lathe experience.
  • Writing computer programs using machine controller or CAM Software. 
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models. 
  • Must have extensive experience holding tight tolerances for products within the aerospace, gas, and variety of other industries.
  • SPC training and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
