Purchasing Project Manager

DISHER is currently partnering with a global, material handling and logistic solutions company in Grand Rapids, Michigan on their need for a Purchasing Project Manager. This person will be responsible for optimizing purchasing processes, while developing and managing strategies for contracted commodities.

  • Select, assess, and continuously develop new and existing suppliers while keeping in mind quality, adherence to delivery dates, costs, etc.
  • Verification of supplier compliance to Key Performance Indicators including, time, quality, and security of supply.
  • Minimize procurement risks.
  • Tendering of new contracts, revision of quotes, and improve existing tender process.
  • Negotiate prices and terms, as well as design and conclusion of contracts, with suppliers in collaboration with Global Lead Buyers and Project Teams.
  • Coaching and training for internal customers.
  • Strategic purchasing between local unit and international lead buyers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing/industrial company in a sourcing/procurement role.
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification preferred.
  • Strong negotiation experience/skills with a record of implementing cost reduction and commodity strategies.
  • Understanding of the Strategic Sourcing Process (Opportunity Assessment; Profile Commodity; Develop Sourcing Strategy; Supplier Portfolio; Select Implementation Path; Select Competitive Suppliers; Operationally Integrate Suppliers; Continuous Benchmark Supply Market).
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
