Control Systems Engineer

DISHER is currently partnering with a global material handling and logistic solutions company on their need for a Controls Systems Engineer in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This person will be responsible for the successful processing of the controls components, assemblies and sub-assemblies within a customer order. This includes working within the specified budget scope, schedule, performance and helping to ensure the availability of the delivered system.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for controls component design from order handover to end of warranty.
  • Work with others to plan resource requirements for projects.
  • Collaborate within a team environment to finalize equipment onsite component and assembly layout.
  • Creates functional specifications for/with the customer.
  • Collaborate closely with the Controls Hardware Engineer regarding schedule and design layout accuracy.
  • Work with Controls Integration Manager for 3rd party component interfaces.
  • Creates site specifications for controls cabinet construction and electrical installation.
 
Qualifications:
  • Associates in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor’s degree preferred) or equivalent experience, 5+ years’ experience in Electrical Controls Engineering.
  • Experience working and leading in a team environment with a fixed schedule.
  • Ideal candidate will have 5+ years in the automated material handling industry with some construction/installation experience. Experience with NEC compliance a plus.
  • Must be able to use common design tools, such as AutoCAD and MS Office Suite and have PLC hardware and networking knowledge.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% of the time for training and project support.
