Supplier Quality Engineer

Disher is currently partnering with a global, company in Norton Shores, Michigan on their need for a Supplier Quality Engineer. This person will be responsible for sourcing metal castings, forgings, and fabrications from suppliers around the world. This position will be focused on quality assurance activities including, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Corrective Action Preventative Action (CAPA), Root Cause Analysis, etc.

  • Understand customer quality requirements and communicate them to the global supply chain.
  • Verify compliance and capability of the global supply chain to satisfy customer requirements during APQP/PPAP process.
  • Lead document control, including change notices.
  • Front-line responder to customer quality issues.
  • Facilitate the 8D process with the engineering team. Track supply chain corrective actions.
  • Track cost of non-conformance at the customer level and communicate information to management.
  • Provide on-site customer support on an as needed basis.
  • Lead specification review, approval, distribution, and training processes across the organization.
  • Provide technical input during reviews of customer RFQ packages (i.e. material specifications, GD&T, packaging, and over cast-ability issues).
  • Lead specification review, approval, distribution, and training processes across the global organization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 3-7+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer, preferably within automotive.
  • Ability to read prints.
  • Knowledge of AIAG standards (PFD, FMEA, Controls Plans, APQP).
  • Understanding of geometric design, tolerance, gage design, and function.
  • Ability to find quality problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Willingness to travel 15-20% of the time.
